This Commission is the first Lancet Commission to be co-chaired by two Black women, Tlaleng Mofokeng and Ngozi Erondu, and its Commissioners represent a multitude of communities, ethnic and racialised groups, and disciplines; their track record of trust and investment in communities is essential to the application of non-extractive methods to engage afflicted communities as co-shapers of this research and ultimately our findings.
